Story - we had moved into an apartment above our music store for security reasons, and left our house "empty" for about a year, but with some things still stored there. Short version, there was a water leak and my wedding dress from 1976 mildewed terribly before I found it. I was heartbroken.
I read online that Oxi-Clean would take it out, with Clorox 2 as a booster. I let it soak overnight along with some special embroidered, appliqued and quilted table linens that my mother had made, and hoped for the best.
Every stain came out. You cannot even tell that it was ever stained. The treatment did not harm any of the old colored fabrics. Even the wine stain from my wedding day came out!
I was happy!!!

I don't have any cleaners to recommend that have not already been mentioned. However, I would caution about washing the entire top. Even new fabric can be very stressed in the process. If spot cleaning does not work, I would wait to wash the entire thing after it was quilted unless it is so bad that you would not make it into a quilt due to the spot.
Good luck,
