Hi,
A lady asked me to make a dolphin quilt before graduation. I got 2 fabrics with dolphins all over, along with some blue to use as borders, etc. Now I am a loss for any ideas. Should I just put the all-over dolphins in the middle and add borders? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Jean

I made my ggs dolphin quilt for Christmas. I cut 81/2 is squares put of the dolphin print and added different blues and greens 8 1/2 squares and made a raggy quilt out of them. It turned out really pretty. But only if you like raggy quilts.

You could do my favorite quickie.......depending on how big your dolphin material is......put that in the middle and make the borders around it. I usually take the border material and cut it in half lengthwise and then cut it again at the fold lengthwise. Sometimes I put in cornerstones and sometimes I don't. It could be machine quilted or like I do most of the time....tied if I need it to be a quickie. :^)

How big are the dolphins in the fabric? Can they be fussy cut?

Solid, using the Dolphins body as your stitching line?
I also like your idea of the Dolphins in the middle with the blue border.
She is going to love it, no matter which idea you choose. I love quilting because we can design and be creative. There may be patterns but nothing is carved in stone. We can change our mind at will.
Can't wait for photos.
