Help.. I'm brain dead on this one.

Making a Christmas present for my 12 year old grandson. I've got the quilt put together, but for the life of me can't think of a "fun" backing. Spent 1 hour looking on a fabric website and couldn't find fabric that inspired me. I have at least 2 yards of the Route 66 print left, but it's not enough to completely cover the back. Any ideas? I seem to be at a loss here.

Add a border around the two yards with a solid color. Nice quilt!

this one sounds the best - could be reversible that way.

I agree with this, I have done something similar several times & it comes out really great, instead of solid color tho I used some tone on tone type prints that I already had. so doing that has a double purpose, using what you already have makes it free! LOL

This is how I do it when using theme fabrics. With yours I'd center those 2 yds and make a picture window -carry the window pattern onto the back

I agree, I think that if you use the same solid colors from the front and use the two yards it would be fine. Great quilt, I think you GS is going to love it.

I have seen map fabric which would be cute. I think I just saw some at Joann's last week.

I have seen fabric with stop signs, yield etc...maybe you can find some of that. I am sure whatever you use will be nice

Just wanted to say that your quilt is great. I'm sure your GS will love it no matter what you put on the back.
