I have a beautiful piece of Christmas stripe that I want a tree skirt out of. I want it cut into 6 sections making the stripes intersect to form 6 sided circle. I cannot for the life of me figure out how to cut it. Can anyone help me, please.

if you cut the fabric into 6 rectangles and layer them very carefully matching the stripes, when you cut it into its wedges, the stripes will match on the edges. i don't think i want to try it unless the stripes are wide be sure to show us the results

If I understand your question, I think you want to cut large 60* triangles to form a hexagon?

Make sure you use your walking foot (or an even feed) to make matching those seams up easier.

Do you have a very large piece? or just enough to make your project?
What I would do if I had lots of the fabric is to cut it a la Stack & Whack using as Tartan mentioned a 60* angle. If you pin the fabric the way that you do when you make a S&W then you are sure to have the lines match up.
Just a thought..........

Here's a page that shows how to make a 60 degree triangle. http://www.mathopenref.com/printequilateral.html I used this method with poster board and made a big triangle and used a poinsettia border print style fabric to make tree skirts. I don't remember how much fabric it takes to make a tree skirt.
