Both my mother in law and her sister have passed away, but about 5 or 6 years ago I was given a lot of UFO's that they had made in the 60's and 70's. One is slightly different, not because it was paper pieced onto newspaper but because it is done on a half square shape. The tallest strip or piece is at the highest point of the triangle and it goes to the center and forms a point and its sides slope down a little on either side of that. The other pieces all are about 2 or 3 inches wide and fit onto either side of the cente piece. They alternate between a print and a coordinating solid on each triangle. By the time I got these, my mother in law had the beginnings of dementia (sp) and her sister couldn't remember just how they were suppose to go or what the pattern was called. I have only one sewn into a square and the other pieces are in various stages of completion on their respective triangles still on this old newspaper.
The 2nd one is quater circles with scalloped edges sewn or appliqued into each cornerr of a 15" block. wHen these are put together, they form a circle, but none of the fabrics sewn in the corners are the same so it, I guess, suppose to be a scrappy flower? I have 3 tops (double bed size) that were given to me by my mother in law and it seems like a zillion quarter circles. I am the only one that even expressed an interest in sewing/and/or quilting and I think that why I was given all of this. I will treasure it but would like to know if there is a pattern name for either one.

Vicki, thats so neat that you were able to inherit such treasures. The pattern you describe sounds very interesting. Can you post some pics of the design? It might be easier for someone to figure out what they are.
Would love to see them.
