I made one of these awhile back and just stitched around the jar and didn't do anything inside the jar.
I have seen them filled with bugs and insects for toddlers, fruits and veggies is also a nice theme and I once made a quilt with cookies, pizza, popcorn etc that would have been fun as a jar filling. I would make my choice based on who I was making the quilt for.

This sounds cute, Ill have to goggle it.
on my bug jar quilt, for some of the big jars I did some free motion quilting in the center. You could outline some of the "contents".

Never made one but I would like to someday. I think I would quilt around the jars so they would stand out roundish like jars should.
