Default Help me get out of my Comfort Zone

This is a sample of a 10 minute block that I did this morning. The center blocks are done with the technique explained in the tutorials by JaniceP. http://www.quiltingboard.com/tutoria...t-t179164.html
I am thinking that the swirly dark pink does not go with the other baby pinks. What do you think? Should I get another baby pink? Also, should I make the pink blocks somewhat smaller? Do the crayola centers get kind of lost in them? This color scheme is way outside my ‘comfort zone’. I normally work with bright colors…lots of black or brown…so thanks for any input you might give me!

I think the blocks are pretty and it does add movement in the quilt because the eye really travels between the bright bit and the focus squares. However, imho the brighter pink (which reads more red than pink) fights with the center crayon blocks. I think the swirly pattern is a good addition to the other patterns but the color is too intense.

I agree with madquilter the darker pink distracts from the center crayon blocks. I think the centers are much prettier with the lighter pinks.

The darker pink doesn't fight at all to me, because the dark pink is stopped by the outer colors in the crayon blocks. I like it.

I like the dark pink in the block as well. The only thing I would change is - the block in the lower left - move the dk. pink to the spot above it, and then the dk. pink travels in a circle within the 4 blocks.

I think it looks fabulous!! I think the darker pink swirled fabric adds a bit of dimension. IMHO, I would be afraid that adding another lighter pink to those already there would overpower the pale centers and they would all just fade together into a bubblegum pink wad. Just my 2cents. I think it looks great.

I agree with this, as well.

I was always told you needed an 'Odd sister' fabric in a block.. I personally think it is beautiful.
