My sewing machine needs to be repaired....Was sewing binding on a Christmas project and my needle no longer goes up and down. I think there is thread stuck in the bobbin area as there is thread sticking up. Won't mess with it myself so in it goes!

My sister is allowing me to use my nieces little machine!

It's good that you have a backup! I hope you get yours back quickly. Nothing is quite the same as your own familiar machine.

Mine went out as well. Hard to get Christmas sewing done-even if you have another one. The first one is always best!

This is the very reason that I peruse Craigslist and the classifieds for older inexpensive machines in good working order. If one messes up I just get out a different one. ALWAYS have a back up. Of course there's ones I prefer to use but when I have to use a different one I can. I also shy away from decorative stitching when I'm making gifts for Christmas.

Do you have the manual for your machine? Taking the bobbin case out should be easy & you should take it out occassionally to clean out lint, etc. If you do take it in for repair, have the repair person show you how to take the bobbin case out & put it back.

See if you can get that bobbin case out yourself, and put the tweezers to work! If you are planning to take it in for repairs anyway, it is worth a shot to try first. I wouldn't think thread there would stop the needle arm from moving though, I'd be looking higher up too.

When was the last time the machine was oiled well? Cleaning out the bobbin race and oiling make mine very happy.

I clean all my own machines regularly, especially the bobbin area. If it is an older machine then it probably needs oiling also. That is a very easy fix too!!!

If you take a small paint brush and put it in there it may come right out... good luck
