Help - need ideas for an American Flag themed quilt ...

I know you ladies will have oodles of ideas and pictures. My granddaughters other grandma has inquired about me making an American flag themed quilt. Her husband and many of her children have or are serving. We've all been through a lot of drama. So I want to be sure to have a good relationship with that side of my granddaughters family so she can stay connected and I think this would be a great way to start that. So let me see your ideas!

Persimmon Quilts sponsored a mystery quilt way back (that is now finished - it was #4) that had a nice flag theme that you might like. See clue #5 for the finished quilt at this link:

She is a great friend of the Quilts of Valor Foundation to offer all of these patriotic themed mysteries and I thank her!

A member of my local QOV group made this quilt and showed the top at our last meeting. You can see her holding it at this link:

    She did a great job!

I think the Quilts of Valor website has some free patterns. I made a red, white and blue quilt for my son who is a full-time National Guardsman, and I used a star pattern.

Sorry to post twice but you have hit on one of my favorite themes - honoring those who serve! Here is another site for ideas (just scroll down - you don't have to subscribe to the BOM):

See especially the "Flag of Valor" designed by Minick and Simpson from Moda that is easy to make.

I was looking for some fabric at Marshall Dry Goods ebay site and came across some lovely patriotic panels. I really liked this one - (so of course I ordered it) - http://www.ebay.com/itm/PATRIOTS-POI...item1c1af80b06

There is one on Etsy that I want to try. I looks like an old ragged American flag! I love it! I think she has a light color on the back, but it is not shown. I hope to try it one day.

It has sold but here is the link: http://www.etsy.com/listing/10302666...can-flag-quilt?
