    Could you just buy a few fat quarters and cut squares, frame them with sashing and scatter them randomly over the quilt top? That way, you could make the quilt large enough to cover your big man and not spend a fortune on the fabric. He would still be able to see his favorite team logos. Just a thought. Let us see when you have finished it.

    What team is it? Maybe someone on the forum has it and would sell it cheaper.

    I would suggest three layers of flannel. You might be able to fine team flannel online. It's cozy and warm and with the ruffly edges of the " rags", it can get a bit bulky. If you have to use a cotton for the top, I'd still use coordinating flannel for the center and the backing.
