help one block wonders

just found obws--- cutebuns tutorial is great but no mention i can find of how much fabric is needed for say single bed size/wall hanging etc also can you use more than i fabric--how big are the cuts ? variable size

Yep. Get the book. Generally you need six repeats of about 12 to 24 inches. But if you make the triangles smaller, you could get away with less. Of course, then the math comes in for the strip widths. Math and I are not friends!

years ago I learned to make a block by drawing a 5 sided figure of any length sides. cutting a few pieces of this figure and putting it back together by sewing matching sides. Then trim the piece to suit the size block you want to use. Is this the same as a one block wonder?

You'll do best with a 24 inch repeat if you want to come up with a twin sized quilt. You'll need 4 1/2 yards for sure
I buy five yards and then I have enough if I want to include the original fabric in the borders or put it on the back
