Hi all -- i'm back from vacation, but my computer is down, so have to use DHs (WHEN I can get on it). I'll post pics later. But in the meantime, I've been trying to make this quilt: http://www.bomquilts.com/FQS/FQSBaby...etry-Set1.html I'm almost done....am working on the 8 hearts at the top and bottom. The directions do NOT give the cutting size for the blue and pink background behind those 8 hearts. I'm having trouble with the ones around the hump..AND the size of the humps of the heart. the 2 7/8" size do not make an 8 1/2" block!!! Can anyone help me? I wrote to the website but it comes back as a 404 error!! GRRRRR And of course, I'm on a timeline with this one!

Oh - if you read step 4 on that pattern, it repeats the instructions for 2 diff colors, but it says to sew to strips. That doesn't make sense to me!

thanks -- dee

The way I'm reading it, each section is done with identical strips. Some of the strips are just fabric, and other strips are made up of triangles.

It might be easier if you print out the pattern and glue scraps of your fabric next to each letter, so you can see that whenever it says A, you need your dominant pink or blue, and when it says B, you need your main background color. Cute pattern!

Did you try the e-mail addy they gave?

1. I don't measure and cut anything 7/8"!

i'd round up to 3" if i were you.and then square it to what is called for. IMHO
the way i am reading it..you would have 4 blocks to give you the 8 inches or 8.5 inches unfinished...

i need to print it out to look at it and the block.

some math whiz will be along soon i hope!

i have seen that pattern before..and always wanted to make it..so cute!

It's the triangles that I couldn't get the right size. I used scrap fabric and finally figured out they didn't include the cutting instructions for the humps and the background. I needed to cut 3.75" squares, halve them for the humps, another one of another fabric for the background between the two humps and I used scraps to make the side pieces. I understood that you needed two colors of fabric, the picture shows that.

I agree about not cutting to 7/8".....I rounded up to an inch each time and ironically, it worked better than the 7/8" cutting!

I did go into "contact" and tried to ask...didn't see the e-mail address. I don't think I'll make another one!!!!!!!

Could you adapt something like this? I didn't work out the math, but if you think it would work I'm sure there is a way. I found this a while back but haven't tried it yet. See the attached .pdf file.
