    Help with quilt

I am trying to attach my rows and on the ends are triangles. Why in the world can I not figure this out?!!! My squares are trimmed to be 9.25@ instead of 9.5". They had me cut the triangle from a 15" square and then cross cut it. Well now trying to put the rows together those triangles are throwing me off because they are about 10.5" and my block is 9.25. Help please!

I have seen other patterns like this-the end triangles are bias and are over sized. The plan is generally to inset the triangles even though they are extended beyond the squares. After insertion they are squared up with the block edges and corners. Sometimes this is done in order to insure that you do not have a gap caused by the bias.

In your second photo, sew the pumpkin block to the 'top' triangle, centering the triangle on the block and leaving about 1/4" overhanging on each side of the block. Press and then trim the 'dog ears' off. Do this for all 4 corners. Next, sew the 'side' triangles on to each row. You would line up the 'right angle' part of the triangle with the bottom of the block next to it. Yes, there is extra length on those triangles, but if you always remember to sew the 'square part' of the side triangle even with the base of your blocks you will be fine.

Oh, place the bias down onto the feed dogs while sewing them together, and for heavens sake, don't pull on the fabric or you will stretch out the bias edges.

Line up the straight edge and sew the two together. The little bunny ears stay and then you sew on the other triangle. The reason they make it larger is there needs to be a quarter inch or more there after the blocks are made, so you don't sew off the nice sharp points when you are finished and adding the next row. Does that make sense? You don't want the points to come to the very tip of the block.

Good advise form the others. This is oversized so one of two - you can trim the sides off after making sure you do not cut too short. Or, so the inner portion of the quilt floats within your boarders. By the way, nice guilt.

Very nice quilt. It is going to be stunning when you have quilted it. I agree with everyone else. You have to make them a little bigger or you will be cutting into your blocks. Nicely modified photo of your quilt.
