That is what the pattern suggests - in little tiny print at the bottom of the cutting instructions.

If you had 2 borders that were 50-1/2", you would cut 3 6-1/2" strips, then sew them together to make a strip approximately 120". Then cut your two 50-1/2" borders. 120" - 101" and you would have a piece approximately 19" left.

[QUOTE=jshore;6781031]Okay. Thank you for the help!! I was getting really frustrated and confused.
So just to clarify so I do not mess this up (it's a gift for my parents) for those wide strips I: cut 3 strips 6 1/2 inches x the width of the fabric. Sew the three strips together and then cut it at 50 1/2" (the pieced strip should be 3x's WOF (roughly 120"-135").
You really only need to sew 2 of the 3 together to cut your 50 1/2 inch peice. But the instructions then say to use the leftover strip to cut other pieces.

jshore, you can ALWAYS get help with a problem here on the board. Some great quilters as well as great ladies here. Take advantage of it. They don't mind at all to help someone. The people here on the board are just great.
