I need some serious help with organizing my fabric. I must have 200+ yards of fabric. I need ideas on how I can fold it or whatever so that it gets organized. I do not mind having to buy something to make this possible but I have no clue and where to even begin.

Thanks so much in advance!

Missy

I bought clear rubbermaid containers that stacked on top of each other. I then sorted by color and labeled each one accordinging. It makes it much faster to find a piece I need using the clear containers.

you could cut cardboard and roll it onto it like they do in the fabric store,,??? or put it in clear bins with labels,,like pastels,, dark,, ????

I fold mine over a 6 or 8 inch ruler. If you don't feel like doing that, you can send it to me :-P

I will try folding it over the ruler. I so love my fabric. I just need to be able to get to it easier.

This fabric addiction is just a blast!

I just finished a similar project, I had 38 bins of fabric in a variety of lengths. I sorted them according to size, then color. I put the FQ's into 2 bins, and sorted the longer lengths into color, then the large pieces. I ended up with 20 large bins packed with fabric, but it is now accessible and organized.

Thats what I do too. However I am limited to what I can fit under the table in my sewingroom/library. :)
