Can anyone suggest a quick and easy way to get photos onto fabric using a computer printer. Ive read some articles but they don't suggest what to use to stick fabric onto paper etc.

Please help as i would like to make a quilt for my sister using some old photos of us growing up together.

They make a prepackage fabric that is treated and already affixed to paper. Fabric stores and quilt shops carry it.

You load it into your printer one sheet at a time, and follow the directions on the package. It will print directly onto the fabric. :D:D:D

If you want to use your own fabric, cut sheets of freezer paper the same size as your copy paper. Cut the fabric slightly larger. With a dry iron the freezer paper's waxy side to the back of your fabric, then trim the fabric to the same size as your paper. It can be run through the copier then.

Just make sure your fabric has been washed, dried and pressed well. Do not use any fabric softener in the washer or dryer, or the ink will not penetrate the fabric as well :D:D:D

I thought you could spray some kind of adhesive to an A4 paper then put your fabric onto that and then feed it through the printer, do i have all that wrong. ??

Like amma said about cutting your own fabric & ironing it to freezer paper, you will want to also soak your fabric sheets in a product called Bubble Jet. If you don't treat your fabric, the ink will fade when washed. If you are only going to put a few pictures on your quilt, the prepackaged fabric is best. It is cheaper to treat & make your own sheets if you are going to put many pictures on it.

It's best if your fabric is pretreated, just to be sure it's going to be permanent. Google Bubble Jet Set and you will be able to find it and all the relevent info online.

Joanns carries products for printing photos on fabric. I used the sheets you just feed into the printer. When I made my photo wallhanging the pictures printed really well. The instructions said NOT washable. Be sure to read the instructions on the package, maybe there is a product that can be washed.(?) You don't want to do all that work, because it is a time consuming project to have the pictures wash out.
I made my wallhanging for my mother-in-law for her 80th birthday and included pictures of the great grand children.

i either use PFD fabrics (prepared for dyeing) or muslin which i have washed, no fabric softener...then cut freezer paper a little bit bigger than printer paper; iron the shiny side to the fabric, cut to the exact size of printer paper press one more time to make sure edges are secure then run through printer. after printing i set my pic's aside for 24 hours to cure, then heat set...i do this 2 or 3 times before finally going to the sink to run cold water through and make sure the pictures are going to last. 2 products that you can use are RETAYNE AND BUBBLE JET.

one thing that i have found helpful when using freezer paper . when you iron it to the fabric, have extra paper at the top to fold over and cover the edge of the fabric. then use something to really press it flat so you have a nice thin edge to feed into the printer. if something catches it can jam your printer. i ruined a nice HP printer by getting fabric jammed in it.

I've made several quilts with photos and love the fabric sheets that you buy. Do be careful though, some of the packages are dry clean only and others are washable. I made that mistake once and, of course, didn't notice it until I had used one of the sheets and couldn't take it back. Lesson learned.
