Help thread keeps breaking

Have a look on Leah Day's blog, you will see it there, I think she also sells it. Isacord isn't readily available here in Australia so I use a similar good quality thread and find it excellent for quilting.

I had terrible problems with thread breaking, tried everything I could think of and every piece of advice I found here. In the end I also found Leah Day's blog and her recommendation of using Isacord thread, I LOVE IT. Haven't had a single breakage since and no lint build up, makes FMQ so much more fun.

I have this machine and when the thread breaks when FMQ it is usually the wrong size needle for the thread. I switched to topstitch needles for all my sewing and most of my thread problem have gone away. I use Organ topstitch needles. I use all brands of thread. Superior threads has a sample pack of each size so you have all you need to try. Here is the chart I use for all my sewing:
1. Topstitch #70/10 for very fine thread
2. Topstitch #80/12 for fine threads (50 wt.)
3. Topstitch #90/14 for medium threads (40 wt.)
4. Topstitch #100/16 for heavier threads (30 wt. and heavier)

the thread is sulky I was using a top stitch needle
cotton. I thought you were only supposed to use
cotton on your quilts??
It could be like my embroidery machine that only likes a certain brand of
thread and I just haven't found it yet lol

Virtualbernie, are you saying you use Isacord Polyester Embroidery Thread for piecing and quilting? Sorry if thats a dumb question but Im also looking for thread that is more durable and has less breakage. The only Isacord Im finding online is embroidery.
