I just finished my job of nine and a half years. As a going away the church people (some of them) gave me cards - some with money, some with gift cards... one of which was to Joann's - the Labor Day sale was this weekend - guess what I did on Monday!?!? Yep - to Joann's I went. I got $70 worth of stuff for $38 dollars - $25 of which was paid for with the gift card and the rest with some of the cash I received!! And then on the way home I got to stop at Cracker Barrel - had a gift card there also - bought two cookbooks and spent a bit more cash - so got two cookbooks for 'free' also... oh - at Joann's I bought a pattern book (Sunbonnet Sue), two (buy one get one free) iron cleaning solutions, six or seven quilting templates (50% off), one set of oval shaped templates, a set of apple scented tealights (I love tealights and almost always burn at least one a day) - I believe that is all - but things I normally put off buying (except the tealights - well, I do usually just buy plain ones...) All in all a good shopping day - I still have four gift cards for restaurants and three for WalMart and one for a bookstore... and about $20 more in cash to spend!!! :) I should've quit years ago!! :)

What a wonderful lot of treasures! Now you get to have fun using them as well as the joy of the purchase, a double whammy, so to speak.

I love your attitude...I can just picture you smiling and spending :). It's great when people show their appreciation. You obviously touched many people's lives.

RedGarnet222 - yes, now which project to do first - I told my husband, as I was letting him know of my shopping spree, that I will make a Sun Bonnet Sue pillow for the couple who gave me the card for Joann's (I've already made them a quilt!) and I will either have the couple over for supper who gave me the card to Cracker Barrel or at least make them a dessert from the cookbooks!! :) I had a blast shopping - no kids, no husband - just me!! I will post a picture of the pillow I make - just don't hold your breath - I have so many projects to finish!! I loved my job, chose to quit, and REALLY like being at home with the boys!!
