Has anyone come across these? I saw a scrap quilt done (somewhere on the web) it was on someones blog and was wondering if anyone has come across a site where I can download the templates to print off.
I thought it would be a great scrap buster quilt.

it wouldn't be that hard to duplicate the pattern. here's how:

create or trace a hexagon that's the finished size you want.

find the exact center of all the flat sides.

starting at the exact centers of each side, draw a line right across to the center of the opposite side. do this with all the sides. you end up with six wedges.

erase every other line, changing six slices into three slices. you should have three fat wedges.

trace or cut apart and add seam allowances. if you plan to english paper piece, you may want to leave more around the outside edge.

baste the outside edges to the paper and continue as usual with paper, or continue sewing to the next unit without paper.

i can see why you're interested. this is very nice.

you know, i just looked at the nancy z's pattern details and she says '3 templates', but it's really only 1 template, repeated 3 times. each piece is exactly 1/3 of a hex, therefore identical. and when put back together, recreates the hex.

bingo.

Thanks everyone. Yes that was the site I was looking at and lost.
Now I can see that she got it from a book.
I will have a go as you suggest butterflywing. Didn't think of it as 3 identical pieces. Guess I wanted a easy (translate lazy) way of having a go.

If I can't I will have a go at trying to get either books in Aus. or if not will try from Nancys site. :D

The Tumbling Block pattern has the same look and makes a great scrappy quilt.

I agree - and it's a fun quilt to EPP; if you play with your lights and darks you get a great effect.
