I just started stitching my first wholecloth quilt today. My fabric is wonderful quality, very smooth, soft and quilts easily. My thread is good quality, as always. My problem? The fabric and thread are white....and it is very hard to see my stitches. I am hand quilting this, and I have good vision, but just can't see due to it all being the same color. I can't think of ANYTHING to do either. AGGGHHHHHH!

I have no experience here, but I am wondering if a magnifying glass would help?

i've never tried this, so have no idea whether or not it would help, but ...

if the problem is that you can't see the stitching already done, get a single strand of embroidery floss, or any other really thin thread, of any color. every so often let one of your quilting stitches tack down a snippet of the embroidery thread. that will mark your stitched path. when the job is done, just pull out all the little thread snippets.

another idea ....how about marking where your gonna quilt with the blue dissapearing pen or the air eraseable pen.....but only mark what your gonna do with the air one or it will be gone in a little while.....good luck....:-)

If you do use the blue marker...won't your stitches show up on the blue ink? I use those all the time but I've never done a whole cloth with the same color on the same color. Good luck! If yours looks great, maybe I'll try one

I may have to try ALL of these suggestions. I marked the top with a washable graphite pencil, but even quilting over those marks, I just can't see my stitches well. If the thread had color, it would be easy. The white on white is what is killing me.

When I stitch black on black I put a white coloured sheet under it & the contrast seems to help my eye pick up the thread easier, and I use an OTT light very close to my work. Or if you can stitch near a window with the light coming in from behind you ??

I already use an OTT floorlamp positioned right over my quilting frame. I can't imagine trying to see anything without it!
