I am making a quilt for my granddaughter that is going through
chemo. Do you need to clean the quilt with a special cleaner or just run it through the dryer?

Also, I did ask if there are people in the Castle Rock, Co area and Littleton area, that would like to get together and quilt. I had one reply and am so sorry I deleted the message with your phone number. All please reply again and lets start our quilting bee.

When I gave a quilt to my friend going through chemo I washed it & dried it just before giving it to her.

I too, would wash and dry it. There could be chemicals on the fabric and batting that could be dangerous for a chemo patient

I usually wash and dry them like usual except that I use the allergy free soap and softener. I used to use the baby laundry soap but now I use the Tide Free and Clear. When you are being treated you can develop 'pecularities' - not exactly allergies - that are simply at that very percise moment are irritating to the skin. It can be from something as simply as an edge with three layers of fabric laying on the skin and then cover by the quilt. The combination of the chemicals in the body with the 4x chemicals in the quilt causes a reaction. I have not had that happen personally or on someone else since I started using the free and clear cleaners.

Ask me how I know
