Question How to cut a 6.5" strip?

For sashing, I need many 6.6" X 2" pieces. I would like to cut a 6.5" strip and then do the 2" sub cuts. Also, it would be best for the pieces with corner stones, to sew a 2" strip of contrasting fabric to a 6.5" strip of sashing fabric, then do the 2" cuts. Does this make sense? Anyway, my ruler if 6" X 24". So what is the best way to cut an acurate 6.5" strip?

Check the measurements on your mat. If they are pretty close, you can use those lines. Start with a straight edge with the fabric at zero and put your ruler at the 6.5" mark.

I would take another ruler, short is ok. line up the 1/2" mark, butt the 6" long ruler up to it, then cut.

Love my 81/2 in. x 24 ruler. Would not be without it, well worth the price.

Always get the ruler with the added 1/2" to it. You can use two rulers butted up to each other.

I have the 6 1/2 x 24" and 8 1/2 x 24" rulers. Didn't even know the long ones came without the 1/2".
