I have one of those movie projector screens...that way the design wall goes bye bye when I don't need it! I just set it up and place batting or flannel over it and clamp it to the top and it works great!

I made mine from extra wide flannel and PVC. I will add some pics to give you the idea of how I made mine. Mine is 6 ft x 6 ft, but you can adjust for whatever size you need. At this size, mine cost $20 to make (flannel from walmart). You can add a stand to the back if needed, or hang it on the wall. I just lean mine against the closet that is full of shelves....very portable too!

I have a Queen size flannel flat sheet that is attached to a strip of wood at the top of one wall (at the ceiling)
and a few tacks along the side to hold it in place. About a 10 minute fix. Works nicely.

I was lucky enough to get a vanishing design wall for Christmas and have just hung it. It is beautiful. We finished it ourselves and then added a little decoration. It works like a dream. Having gotten one I think it would be very possible to make one fairly easily. The hardest part would be the roller hardware and I think that is available in stores that sell blinds. Add a dowel and the fannel and build a little shelf-like valence and you have it. I don't think it would cost much to make from scratch. Best of luck.

Search the Quilting Board. There are many ideas already discussed.

Good luck,

No matter what question is asked on this board I always get great inventive (and inexpensive) ideas. Ladies, thank you so!
