Have any of you made a quilt using the ultra cuddle fabric also called Minky. I have heard some are using this for a backing and wanted to know the pros and cons of this.

I haven't, but I really want to!! I've heard that the problem with it is that it's slippery, but that if a walking foot is used, it helps significantly. Also I saw a tutorial where someone used 505 spray, but that was with minky on both sides.
I'm interested to see what people say.

I've quilted it on my longarm and it quilts beautifully and it quilted easily. The quilt had a regular pieced cotton top and minky as a backing. The quilt also had a batting. The only thing to remember if you are loading onto a frame is to put the minky on the rollers so the least amount of stretch in the minky is going from roller to roller. I quilted it with regular cotton thread in a medium density edge to edge pattern.
I haven't tried minky to FMQ on my regular machine so I don't know about how that would be.

No experience here - but if you go to the top of this page and click on "search" and then type in "minky" in the search box - you will get a whole page full of topics - just start clicking on each post. HTH (hope this helps)

I just finished a baby quilt with cuddle fabric. Its not the same feel as true minky. But it is soft. I buy both cuddle and minky from Fabric.com.

I have done four quilts for children with minke on the back, batting and a regular pieced cotton top. I do use the spray basting and then pin but have had no problems with it and the kids love to cuddle up to the softness. I have FMQed and done some SITD with my walking foot. None of my quilts have gone to the LA yet but have only done two twins and crib sized so far.

Three of the quilts used what I call the dotty minke with the raised bumps and one used plain, longer "fur" length for lack of a better term that I can think of at the moment.

Thank you so much. I will check this out. I do most of my quilting on the machine and I have a family request to use this on the back of their quilt if possible. Figured it might do alot of moving when quilting. Thanks for all your help.

I tried using it for piecing 4 1/2" squares in nine-patches and ended up giving it away. I couldn't get it to behave. The next time I feel ambitious and want to splurge I'll try using it for backing. There are some great recent pictures on the board of FMQ showing how lovely it looks with minky
Good luck
