EQ7 lets you scan in pictures of your own fabric....I have EQ6, which I bought from ebay for $20.

Quilt Assistant:

Free software for designing quilts based on photos and drawing pieced quilt blocks with ease.

This software is amazing and not too hard to learn to use. I mostly use it to trace blocks and turn them into paper piecing patterns, but it does not have to be PP. It does ecactly what you are asking for and it is free!
