I'm new to quilting and have only done regular binding on 2 projects. Now I'm making some mug rugs and I thought I'd experiment on making the kind of binding that's made from bringing the backing fabric around to the front. Would someone mind giving me some directions or point me to a resource where I can find out how to do this? Thanks so much.

Do a youtube search with key words quilting binding and you'll probably find a demo. Or just do a Search with key words and you'll fid written instructions...you can find anything on the internet

For a quick binding from the back. Just iron a 1/4 in of the backing toward the front. Then fold that edge ( so it will looked finished ) over to the front and sew it either by hand or machine ( for what you are doing I'd use the machine, probably a fancy stitch ). Then your done!
