Default How do you make this block?

Obviously, the 9 patch part is easy, but the green star points? (I can do the inner square in a square as well.) The part I have a question about is the section with the star points with the white.

I think it is two flying geese, one that has been "scalped" sewn together.

Or a trimmed down quarter square triangle block.

I agree-it looks like an hourglass block that has been trimmed off.

Brilliant Mdgenhart! I was in my mind breaking down the sections to make the star points thinking of using templates again for the tinier triangles and you took it to the easiest way just that quick. Great thinking!

In EQ you can print the block using rotary cutting, paper piecing or templates. I have often used PP for just one segment of a block or cut templates for squares like that sawed off hourglass. Best of luck.

OK. Excellent idea. Maybe I will try PP for this section. OTOH, maybe just cutting off a flying geese would be just as easy.

Thanks everyone

Yes, I would make the hourglass same size as the center block and then trim the height of it down to the height of the nine patch.
