Default Tried the Elmer's School Glue basting for my quilt sandwich today!

And all I can say is..... AWESOME! I loved, loved not having all those pins in my way.

I actually tried two different things. I attached the backing to the batting using a spray bottle with a 1/2 water and 1/2 glue mixture. Perhaps it was the bottle I was using, but it seemed that a bit too much of the mixture was spraying, and it got a little bit "gloppy", if you know what I mean. The backing seemed a bit too wet, even after I ironed it. When I rubbed my hand over the back, I could feel a "drag" from the glue and it was a bit sticky..

To attach the front of the quilt to the batting, I simply used a tiny squiggle stream of glue, right out of the bottle. That worked great! It was not gloppy at all and once I ironed it, the glue dried and I couldn't even feel it.

On this quilt, I used a simple stitch in the ditch, and everything held together beautifully; I had no tucks or pleats on the backing at all. I can't wait to try it on a quilt with free-motion quilting to see if that works too!

So if anyone is still on the fence - try it. You can get the glue dirt-cheap right now in back-to-school sales!

So glad that it worked out for you! Make sure it is the washable school glue and if you are still wanting to try spray glue look up the homemade spray glue recipe posted here - it is the bomb also I use these two methods all the time and just completed a 120 x 120 FMQ the other day!

I don't see why not.... I would compare the ingredients on the two. Lots of generic brands are exactly the same as the name brand. Maybe someone will post if they have tried it.

Now you have to try it for those long seams when joining rows and borders. I LOVE not having all those pins. You can just zoom away on those long seams.
