I use "Perfect Circles" to make my circles. The process is similar to the yo-yo but the fabric is held around a mylar disk. I spray the fabric with starch and press. Then I take out the disk and tug it back into shape.

A 3 1/2" circle will make a yo-yo about 1 1/2 across. I turn under about 1/4" and from the wrong side of the circle do the running stitch in the middle of the 1/4 turn down and then at the end pull the thread tight to close the hole. That a few stitches in place and stick the needle inside the yo-yo and come back out a ways from the end. cut the thread and the tail will be inside the yo-yo.

Karen, here is an example. I have both sets. They are not exactly like yo-yos but great for circles you want to applique. I suppose you could use them for yo-yos too though.

I have a circle cutter which I use and think it is fantastic.
It is manufactured by Quilters Rule and I haven't the faintest idea where I got it. It has a blade in it and cuts up to 6-1/2 and I believe it's 2-1/2 small. Works really fast.

I use the clover devices as well, I have circles, hearts and flowers. They are very easy to use. I had a pair of jeans that was too short and added yo yos to the hem of each leg. I receive many compliments.

sounds cute. I went this afternoon and got 2 sizes and I have made 3 so far. They don't look perfect yet so I'll keep makeing them and see how they turn out.

How did you attach them to your jeans? I was thinking about adding a button in the center, what do you think?

Yes, they are available at JoAnns and most other craft stores. I have all the sizes and they work great.

I just tacked them on with a whip stitch and tacked them together with the same stitch. It saved the jeans that I needed very badly at the time. I add buttons to the center when I add them to anything else. It took about 30 yo yos with the size I made and didn't have that many buttons at the time. I may add them later.
