I'm in the process of re-doing my sewing room & I need some ideas on what to do with my rulers & mats (the smaller ones with handles). I currently have them hanging from picture hooks, which I like, but the hooks are barely big enough. Was wondering about a pegboard, like what my husband uses in the garage for his tools. It would have to be painted & prettied up though if it was going in my sewing room lol.

So what do all of you do? If you have pictures, that would be great. Thanks!

Mine hang up in front of my stash cupboard with a simple screw attachment....primitive but functional.

I hang my rulers under the edge of my cutting table. But I have a medium size pegboard (hot pink) for items that I use often (but not everyday). I love the pegboard.

My son made me a ruler rack. A piece of oak - 7" wide by 20" long. He cut 11 grooves in it for the rulers to stand up in. That sits on top of a dresser in my sewing room. I also stick paper patterns in it and my hinged mirror. My mats are all on my sewing table, so I don't need to store those.

Hiya Cowgirl...

I hang some on the side of my quilt/cut/press table, some on the sides of my tall stash cabinets. The small ones, I put in a cute cardboard desk accessory box - the kind that people use to hold letters and envelopes on their desk. Use the press board/paper covered ones instead of wood, plastic or metal so the rulers won't get scratched. I'll post a picture tomorrow.

To hang the rulers.... I use the little 3M hooks that have the folded over wire head. They are small hooks, make for 2 lbs or less I think. The wire hook swings up and/or down should you need it, and the rulers I have hanging on each one are not over 2 lbs heavy (I have a Shape Cut Plus on one, a long 6x30, etc. on them.) The 3M adhesive will come off my Horn cabinet, walls, bookshelves and such without leaving a mark or a hole. I LOVE them.

I have a peg board like you are thinking about but didn't have to pretty it up. At Lowes, they have a white plastic pegboard that looks just fine (I don't like the brown pegboard either.) I use it to hang my embroidery hoops, rulers, and packages of misc. stuff.

A few of my rulers are hung on the side of my fabric cabinet. The long rulers are stored in the drawer of my cutting table and the big square rulers are in one of my drawers in my ironing station. The large mat stays on my cutting table and I have several stored under my bed so they stay flat. The small mats are stored on the side of my ironing station.

They usually hang from large "s" shaped hooks which I put over the top of a door or railing. Some are stored in the slots of a plastic cover that I used to put over bread so that I could slice it evenly without squashing it. The slats are the right width and height for sturdy storage.

I hang my cutting mat using a trouser/skirt coat hanger. I hang it on the wall of my room. When I need to I hang some white flannel from two of these hangers to create a temporary design wall.
