I just ordered another kit and they are sending out a request for quilts for teenage boys, in the 15 - 18 year range. I don't have much of anything in my stash suitable, but thought that if any of you do, it might be nice to make a quilt for them. If you have fabric and don't want to make one, I would be more than willing to take it off your hands and make it for you. Just a thought...

Quilts for Kids is a great idea. Ask them for a kit and you will then know just how big, style, etc. they need. The kits they sent me were youg boy oriented. So I am now working up designs for girls...they get sick, too.Young teen boys like sports, hunting, fishing,... maybe not so loud colors. These quilts are small 45x55 or so. Good way to try out a new design/pattern. I just got a big load of fabric at a Walmart that's eliminating fabric, for 1/2 price. Also, the 10 yd roll of batting at JoAnns was on sale at 1/2 off and will do about 8 of the quilts for kids.
Also good size quilt to try free motion quilting or whatever style on your home machine. Hobo quilt designs and some Amish designs would work for young teen boys. You can find these patterns FREE on the web. Floridacabinfever.com had a bom pattern for Amish quilt, lap size. Download pattern for free. Great pattern for a beginner. Quick and easy.

I just want to thank everyone for the great turnout here. I think this is a wonderful charity and I think the teenage boys get forgotten. We tend to make things for babies and little boys and girls and forget the older ones. I went on jandofabrics.com and ordered some pieces with planes, etc. I went through my stash and had only a couple fat quarters that were appropriate. So now I should be good to go. Thanks everyone :!:
I also have that wildlife quilt I made a couple weeks ago that had no home, so it will go too. I hope some young man will enjoy it.
