I'm make a comforter rail fence quilt for my bed and made 2 extra blocks so I could make a pillow sham to put on my bed. The only problem is, I can't figure out how to do it and I've seen some with a little ruffle thing around the outside and I want to do that if I can. I can only find patterns to buy and I don't really want to do that. can someone help me?

    Try this site:

Instead of thread, I used dental floss & zigzag stitch over it to create the ruffle

What I would also recommend is that you line them with a slippery fabric, such as satin or garment lining. It's not going to show, so just get a remnant. It's so much easier to get the pillows in and they seem to 'lay' better in the sham when they are not clinging to the fabric.
