which do you do?

I am debating if I want to knot this quilt I am working on (when it is done) or try quilting it.

while I love the look of both, knotting is so much faster, and reminds me of my mom.

Is a quilt still a quilt when it is knotted?

I think a quilt is a "quilt" if it has a top layer, a back layer, and something "in between"

Whether it is tied, hand quilted, or machine quilted does not affect/afflict that basic definition.

do SO agree, LOVE tied quilts esp with 4 oz batting, very sqishy and comforting.

Absolutely, it's still a quilt. And it's your quilt. Do what makes you happy.

Sure it's a quilt if it's tied! Just be sure you use a batting that is good for tied quilts. You probably want a batting needlepunched through scrim, as that will be stable in a tied quilt.

I tied one with the idea that I could one day undo the ties and quilt it if I wanted too. After a 1 1/2 yrs I've found that I like it's softness, so it's still tied!
