I like MTS's suggestion - the concentric lines within bands. Will the batting you've used let you get a way with far-apart quilting lines? I think I would minimize the quilting as much as possible, to let the piecing shine! Maybe use a couple of different colours so that the thread disappears into the fabric?

I like the combination of two of the suggestions ... diagonal feathers and alternating diagonal lines.

I would place the feathers in yellow to red sections - a complete "diamond" and in the setting corners. In the purple/blue/green sections place one or two lines again on the diagonal "diamond". SITD around the whole block. As for the "smashing" (<g>) not sure how wide it is - if it needs to be quilted. If it does ... perhaps diamonds would draw all the 4 large squares together.

Lovely piece!!

Cross hatching might work and I would suggest invisible thread like the charcoal Sulky.

Hi Guys,

Love all the suggestions, but I think I really like MTS's suggestions and as they are only 1" squares I could quilt that far apart.... as for the smashing... there is a little twist on that.... when I post the finished item you will see what I mean.

Thank you all for your help, I will hopefully quilt tomorrow or Saturday and post a picture!

Hugs

Caroline
