I cut my binding 2-1/4 inches wide. I like to use the side of my walking foot against the edge of the quilt for a straight line, hence a 3/8 inch seam. Being careful to measure at the corners I have a nice mitered corner and enough fabric to turn.

When I first started quilting I actually cut 4"wide, double fold twice but I was just learning and this was good practice. As I became more confident and had better skills, I discovered that 4" did not look smooth and over time it did not "keep its shape". Now I use 2 1/4 or 2 1/2 as my standard. It is easy to work with and finishes the edge without distracting from the quilt or looking like another sashing.

I would stay with the width you are most comfortable with.

I always cut my binding 21/4 " and that works great for me.

I do 2 1/2; Maybe the day will come that I do 2 1/4, but not quite yet. The wider bindings are ok, but do not really appeal to me. It is always a matter of choice

I use 2 1/4". I've done the wide, ie 3 1/2....it had a bigger coverage on the back. I thought it was pretty interesting....but, have only done it one time.

It depends. My go to these days is 2.25", but for a mini I used 2" binding. It depends on the fabric in the quilt being bound.

I now do mine this way also, especially on the quilts I donate.

I use 2-1/2" but I'm toying with doing 2-1/4" on my next project which is a lap quilt. I do smaller for small wall hangings.

I use 2 1/4" binding always. Works best for me.
