Default HQ Sweet 16 thread wt

Has anyone used Aurifil 12 wt thread on the HQ Sweet 16 sit down machine? I am newbie on this machine. If so, what needle size did you use and what bobbin thread weight?

I want to quilt through a hand dyed heavy cotton fabric with chunkier thread, (thus the 12 wt), however,
due to the design, bobbin work won't be suitable for this project.

Before I have to place an order for threads and extra needles, I thought it best to check with more experienced HQ users.

Many thanks

Have never tried 12wt on any machine but I'm sure you'll need a larger eyed needle with them. Have you thought about using 2 or 3 threads in the needle as this way you can use different colored threads at one time? I'm getting ready to try my hand using 2 threads..one being metallic. The effect is stunning from what I've seen online by other who have tried it.

I use connecting threads Essential cotton thread on my sweet 16. It works very well. I use either 16 or 18 sized needle. I haven't tried anything thicker unfortunately

Handi quilter has their own dedicated forum. It is under the 'Community' tab on their home page. If the general forum doesn't have an answer, they have an 'ask the expert' section.
