The class I took when I bought my Sapphire, the lady asked me what I needed to know. She said most people leave their machine in the box until they come to lessons. I had taken mine out & worked through the workbook that came with it. There was really nothing that the teacher needed to show me. As I'm using the machine sometimes I have to recheck the manual because I've forgotten something, but if she has her manual & spends time going through all the book, she should be fine.

ANY dealer with half a business-brain should give you lessons on how to use your new machine! I used to work for Viking and have never ever heard of a dealer who didn't offer LOTS of free classes. If this (idiot)dealer refuses, then take your new machine and go to a different HV dealer and tell them what happened, and i'm sure they would love to help you out. The more times they can get you into their store, the better the chances of you being a repeat customer! I'm mad at this dealer for you, and wish you luck. Vikings are wonderful, wonderful machines, so don't give up! :thumbup: :thumbup:

My experience when I bought my Sapphire 830 was about the same. No real classes, but if I needed any help, or to be shown anything, to come in, & she would sit down with me & show me. I find the manuals very helpful & thorough too! If your mom has always sewn & had more than one machine, she shouldn't have any trouble with this one. There is also plenty of help online, like in this group, & on Yahoo, there are at least two groups that I belong to. So tell her to get it out & just start getting to know it. I hope she loves it! I have mine on a Grace Mini Pinn frame now, & it's working out great on there too!

I inquired at the local JoAnn's for help in learning how to use mine since it's been years & since it uses the card and those can't be found anymore ( i have enough cards)...they wanted me to trade it in for nearly nothing for a updated new machine..NO THANKS! They are the only dealer in our area to sell these. I guess im just gonna have to drag it out and read the booklet to see if it can help me out. When you buy one, they said they can give u some lessions & answer questions but it's for a short time. The reasons that i hadn't used it? Because i was going thru cancer treatments and was not up to par @ the time to keep using and had to return to work, etc and i let time go by...

I recently bought my 870 used from ebay so no classes for me. I also don't think I got all of my manuals either. However, I was able to sit down and sew. Threading is well marked and easy to follow. If you have sewn all along using the machine will be easy. If you are just learning you can still get good use out of your machine just following the booklet. The book has everything you need to know.

I am assuming your Mother has sewing experience since she invested in such an expensive machine. I have a "higher" model then the Sapphire and find it very user friendly. I purchased mine online so do not have free classes, but classes are available; however, the manuel is easy to follow.

I'd suggest your Mother start on page 1 of the manuel and just follow through step-by-step and she'll soon be a pro. It just takes time and effort to learn anything I find.

The classes helped me, but found the machine to be VERY user friendly... The manual is also wonderful and easy to use so you can refer to it when ever you need to-

As far as the "dealer" not offering free classes- That is Bull Roar! If they are a licensed dealer, they give classes!!!!! I would call Husqvarna directly and find out what is going on!!!!
