My husband who is an elder at our church brought up in session tonight that I wanted to start a quilting club!
They aproved and said I will be fully in charge of it...

Eeeek

Umm lol I have never been to a quilting club, guild or meeting

Now what

I am think only once a month to get it started and a 1 hour meeting

If there is interest I was thinking of a Saturday once a month sew day

For the hour meetings I was thinking
Show in tell
technique demonstration
time if someone needs help to ask and get the help
Also adopt a new quilter

So far we already (this was the first night and it has not been mentioned to the congregation yet) 5 quilters interested

So all those that have been to clubs and guilds, how does my plan sound?
Anything fun you can think of
I also thought we could do some charity quilts and fun things make a quilt for raffles when we have fund raisers

Also would our little club qualify for like the 10% discount at Joanns if we made up cards?
Its not important just dont know if I should make up cards at kinkos or something.

Thanks for anyones help.... I am kinda scared lol

I have never been to a quilt club meeting but sounds like you have a great plan. At the local fabric shop here, she said they do the same things you are talking about. Blessings to you on your new venture.

well congrat to you and the new 5 members. so far it sound like fun, wanna mover here????
for name tags, along timego, we had a stamp and some of us decorated it all differently.
maybe you can have a logo for your group. You're in PA, keystone state
so maybe a cute skeleton key or something along those lines. state flower, outline of town, with name in it, and everyone uses the outline and makes a quilt mini block to go inside the borders. the fundraiser thing is a good idea, and maybe a quick newsletter with a block of the monthfor everyone to do, start easy for the beginners. Maybe have everyone make a christmas stocking for the sodiers, or something like that to get a community feeling started. let me know wat happens
good luck

my church has a quilting group that makes the dedication blankets and comfort quilts. They meet once a month for tutorials and then one saturday a month is a free sewing day. The kind with no kids there so you can get your UFO's done and 2 times a year they will host a retreat for quilting.

The Quilting Club at Church sounds like Fun! Great way to create & help someone in need, too! Wonderful idea! I think a patchwork Christmas Stocking for the Soldiers would be a great idea...We send some every year & they like to receive old cell phones to refurbish & cell phone minute cards...oh yeah & treats!
