After six hours of machine quilting on the baby quilt that absolutely must be finished today, I noticed what looked like a pulled thread in one of the blocks. I used a magnifying glass to check, and realized that there were actually a couple of tiny cuts--just a thread or two. I had not been totally happy with this quilting cotton because it seemed to fray excessively and the weave looked looser than some I had used. So--my dilemma--would it stand up to wash and use, or would it fray out?

I couldn't stand to leave it. Thank goodness the block was next to the outside border and I only had to remove the quilting from it and 2 other blocks plus sashing. But it took me almost 2 hours to do all that, replace the piece with the flaw, and requilt. Thank goodness I had decided to go with minimum quilting on this one, due to time restraints! So today, I have to prepare for company and somehow get the border quilted and the binding on.

Guess I'd better get off the board and get moving!! Wish me luck!

You can do it! So sorry that you had to rip out an almost completed quilt!

You certainly have a lot of perseverance. I would have probably given up.
