Cool I got a quilting calculator!

Yesterday went to Joann's especially for the sale on the quilting calculator plus 10% off. It is fabulous. I played with it all morning. (Couldn't sleep, the time change affects me). In the past, I have either bought way too much fabric (stash builder), or not enough fabric for a project. I can really use this, and it is very easy to figure out. Even has a quick guide storage in the back of the calculator.
You can get yardage for sashing, for blocks, for backing, for binding. This would be a very useful item on your Holiday list. Wish it had a calculation for jelly rolls, layer cakes too.

I have had mine for about 5-6 years...got it when it first came out. I love it! It is a great asset for any quilter and relatively easy to use and understand. I do refer to the "quick guide" often and am please that it has a little storage space in the back to take with me when I need it. Enjoy!

These calculators are an awesome tool-we use them all the time at Mami's Country Quilts. In Canada, everything is metric, but most patterns we sell and use are standard measurements, so these calculators to convert all the time!

Is there only one brand of the calculator? Santa wants to know about how much it cost?

My husband got me a quilting calculator at Hobby Lobby at an extremely reduced price. I've never used it. After reading your comments, I'm going to get that calculator out and figure out how to use it. Thanks!

I love mine too! In fact I got 2 of them! One for my sewing room and one for my purse. Ive had them for several years and just now had to change the batteries. I think that once you get into learning more you will learn how to change the default setting to whatever you want.

At Joann's it is regularly $39.99, it is on sale for $19.99. The additional 10% was a Veteran's Day discount, they also do the additional discount at Thanksgiving. There was a 20% military discount on Veteran's Day for family members too. I had my Grandson with me (i babysit for the grand boys when school is out and his mom has to work) who is a military dependant, but we needed his card.

If you do not have the user guide, try to find it online. the one I got from Joann's is very simple, it has a width and length key, a backing key, a block key, the instructions were simple, even for me. I sat down today at 5AM (difficulty sleeping and my 90 year old mother now deceased once told me, if you can't sleep, get out of bed, and enjoy the quiet time, do what you want to do that you didn't get to do the day before, because you will never get that time back!!!) and played with it without any distractions. We always kept a jigsaw puzzle up, and she would work on that, or crochet baby things when she couldn't sleep. I have inherited her sleep patterns and have a "healthier attitude" about not being able to sleep on "those" types of nights.
