    so if i have a walking foot it is ok to machine quilt with using a blanket for batting i appreciate any help please i am new thanks dorothy from tenn

    A walking foot is used if you are quilting in straight lines. Use a darning foot with the feed dogs down if you are planning on freemotion/stippling. If the blanket is a tad large, cut off a piece and make a practice sample. Enjoy the journey.

    I put a new top over an old quilt once. Regular foot worked fine.
