You didn't do anything wrong. Blue jeans are heavy fabric and therefore a heavy quilt. Using flannel or cotton fabric will lighten up your next one. If you can finish this one a little at a time, do it, and try another.

I'm not sure you did anything wrong middy. I always make mine with a 1" seam too. If you made a fairly large one, and especially out of denim, it's bound to be quite heavy by the time you get almost all the rows on. It sounds to me like you did it the right way. I've never used denim, but even the ones I've made from flannel with just a thin batting got heavy to work with. All I can do is support you and be your cheerleader!! You're almost done from the sounds of it. ONward girl! You can do it. :)

If it were me making the denim quilt, I think I would have sewn the rows in sections. say, do 5 rows and another 5 then put them together so the weight is not all at one end. just a thought since I never made one.

I agree if you could do it in sections it will really help. I have never made one with denim yet but have made several rag quilts. I always use a 7 inch block and just a half an inch inseam even thou all of the patterns that I have seen say a 1 inch. So if you try another you might want to use a lighter fabric and maybe just use 1/2 in seam. Keep at it you can do it.
