My first try is a Dresdan Plate as a table top, fitting the season. I have completed the plate, so so. What I would like to know is once you mount the plate on your square, do you applique around the points. or do you just bind it with seam to seam. Thank you for your help,
    Wendy

You can either applique it by hand with a slip stitch, or blanket stitch on the machine. I have even done a decorative stitch once because I wanted to accent the points.

Here is a photo of one I did the blanket stitch, very small stitch with clear monofilament thread as I did not want the stitches to interfer with the quilting design.

You can applique it by hand or by machine. You can use invisible thread and use the blind hem stitch or you can use decorative thread and use a blanket stitch for two of the many machine choices. What look do you want is the first thing to think about. Do you enjoy hand or machine work is also a consideration.

oh! What a lovely pattern. Please, please, please don't use steam a seam. Just blind stitch or blanket stitch the edge.
You will have a much better looking plate and one done with tradition rather than the quick to finish method to just get it done. The charm is in the doing and handling of the material. Please post a pic' when you finish!
