Go to a quilt store and browse. Take lots of time to look at books, samples, etc. Inspiration comes, but ya gotta give it an open door. Only YOU know what tickles your fancy. Sara

Oh, go to the Pictures Board and look at all that have been posted. There are so many inspiring ideas there from everyone here.

Look to the world of art. Visit art museums. Google such terms as 'op art', 'modern art', 'cubism', 'geometric art', 'tessellations' and other styles of art that easily lend themselves to interpretation in fabric. You can't copy them, but the works of others can open new ways of seeing your own world.

Hmmmm artsy quilt doesn't give much of an idea of what you are looking for, that is a broad subject!

Do you mean quilted fabric art like that made by Cindy Rinne, Joanell Connolly, Susan Willen or Rose Hughes, just to mention a few? Google them to see their artwork.

Or are you looking for some embellishment ideas? ??? Rosemary Eichcorn (spelling is wrong I know)

Recently learned how to use 'tyvek' in art quilts and that is wild and fun.

Collages?

Anyway, do some Google searches on fabric art, quilt art, etc to see what others are doing and you should be greatly inspired.

I too need a jump start with a creative idea. Here are some tips I have been given:

1. What's on the sewing room floor? Make a collage and add to it as it speaks to you.

2. Can you doodle? Fold a piece of paper into eighths. Draw two lines across. Then open the paper and make a mirror image into a fourth then a half and then a whole. Hmm--maybe a little refinement here and there. What color would bring this part out? You get the idea.

3. Take a simple subject like a leaf. Make it into a color study. Do it in four colorways. Come on now--try those weird combinations.

4. Do a Ricky Tims convergence quilt.

5. Finally free yourself up and open up to universe. Don't be afraid to fail. There is no failure-- only learning experiences and opportunities to grow.

Try quilting flames or bubbles but use new and different threads that add to the design

Click thru the "random topics" on menu & it will take you to different posts from earlier in the year & there are some pretty good links to browse thru. Each time you open it there is a different list of random messages posted.
