Ouch! I did the same thing but the needle didn't break. When I pulled my hand away, it pulled the needle through the side of my finger. Lots of blood was involved but it healed up nicely and didn't even scar.

Oh my goodness. the hair on the back of my neck just stood up as I read. Knock on wood, I have never done that with all the years I have quilted. Sorry for you for joining that group. Hope you heal quickly!!

My mom and I used to wonder how anyone could run over their finger while sewing, Well I found out HOW one morning early when I was trying to bind a Table Runner!!!! And I did the same thing "First Instinct is to Pull"!!! my husband came running and pulled the needle and thread out of my finger and luckily it did not hit the bone or nail!! I called my mom and told her just How it Happens!!!!!!! I'm glad your ok!!

Yowch! Welcome to the club...? LOL Not a club you wanted to join but hopefully now that you're in you won't re-do your membership requirements again!
I'm glad you didn't rip your finger, that would have been pretty darn awful. I joined the club when I was 8, I put a needle right through my nail. I didn't yank because I was just staring at it in shock, then I just started screeching for my grandmother to come rescue me! LOL It's something I have (so far) avoided repeating...that seems to be something you only do ONCE and then you're a lot more clever (paranoid) about it, LOL.
I know they have table saws that can sense when the blade touches flesh and instantly stop without causing any injury at all...I wonder if that technology will ever make it into sewing machines?
