what you are going to do with your quilt? If it is a wall hanging, where you will hang it?

I saw a pattern for a beautiful wall hanging that I really wanted to make. When I showed my sister, she asked where I was going to hang it. As if I thought that far ahead.

So, do you have a need then find a quilt pattern to fulfill your need? Or do you decide to make a quilt and then find the use for it?

I'm working on a wall hanging right now. Have no idea where it will hang. May have to paint the dining room so I can hang it in there! LOL

Most of them. But I have done some class quilts (still just tops :o) that I have no idea where I will put them or who I will give them to. But mostly I have someone or myself in mind.

A friend and I were just discussing this yesterday. We both decided that we make things because we like the pattern. We will decide what to do with them when they're done (be gifts or find a place to put them).

I never think about where one will go-I make what I want and worry about it later. I usually have made bed-size quilts for specific family members, but not always. Many I have made (wall and bed) when finished, just sat in their cotton bag in the closet until I moved back to the US, then instead of hauling them all back, I was able to sell them before I left-made some decent "new stash" money! I enjoy the process of making them, so just make what I like in the colors I like and styles I like.

I usually have a place in mind, but it is determined by the design. Some look good in living room, others in the bedrooms or kitchen. Periodically I will change the look of the room by hanging a different wallhanging. Sometimes I will even hang a lapquilt by pinning a sleeve or loops. The best are, of course, Christmas themed wallhanging. I own only 2 framed sofa pictures, both flowers. If not wallhangings, I prefer pictures of family.
