Does anybody in New York long-arm quilt for others? I live in the Hudson Vally region (mainly Orange County) and I'm finding ads from long-armers across the country - haven't seen anyone who advertises in New York, Pennsylvania, or New Jersey, even Connecticut!!
Does this mean that when I have a quilt to be long-arm quilted I have to ship it cross country? Would love to hear from others who live in this area and who get their quilting done "locally".
Thanks - will be looking forward to hearing from you.

I would ask at your local quilt shop - professional quilters usually leave their business cards there, and some shops offer special times when you can meet the quilter and drop your quilt off.
I know there's a good shop in Pine Bush called the Quilters Attic. The Quilt Basket in Wappingers Falls - across the Hudson from you - is also a good place to check out.
You'd be amazed at how many good quilters there are in the area!

Thank you all for giving me some quilt stores not too far from my area. I do not frequent any quilt stores as I am a Joanne and former Walmart person for fabric.
Have to travel a little for a Joanne store also so mostly rely on the net and magazine advertisements. I am an elderly widow and don't get around much - just thought someone might have seen or known about some local long-armers who do advertise.
I only know of one other quilter in my area and who is older than I am and we do all our quilts by hand and would like to try sending them out
The middle of the US seems like a long way to ship a quilt - time-wise and shipping-wise.

you might want to phone this quilt shop
http://www.quilterscrossing.com/
its in rockland county but once a month a long arm quilter comes there to pick up all her work.
if i remember correctly she lives way upstate too and thats why she only comes once a month for the quilts.
also this place rents studio time if you wish to do the long arm quilting yourself to save money.

I have a good long arm quilter that is in Auburn, NY. However, she only does edge-to-edge pantogram designs. Does not do block-by- block custmized quilting. Here is her info:
