Have or has anyone ever tried to cut fabric with a paper cutter?
Welcome to the Quilting Board!

Have or has anyone ever tried to cut fabric with a paper cutter?
Nope. I would think unless it was razor sharp it would just pull on the fabric rather than sever. I would think, to be honest, a guillotine type paper cutter would be more dangerous than the rotary cutter. Keep us posted if you try this. Be safe.
Use a new blade, should work fine :!:
Never thought of that. I have a Fiskars paper cutter that uses the rotary blade. I wonder . . .
I would NOT use a guillotine style paper cutter on fabric, it will just pull the fabric instead of cutting neatly. If you have one of the rotary style ones (like Fiskars), then sure, I guess you could. I save my dulled rotary blades to use in my paper cutter.
Yep! with a sharp blade it works just fine!
I put a sheet of paper on bottom and top with fabric sandwiched in between when I did this on my Dad's industrial paper cutter. Worked great.
I have tried it .. not so accurate! Was not faster than a rotary cutter and a big mat.
I have a cutter for fabrics but truthfully I prefer the rotary cutter.
I have used my guillotine paper cutter - it works great. The cutter has a piece of plastic that after you slide the fabric under it - it holds the fabric in place. Works better if you starch the fabric.Originally Posted by cattailsquilts
