Hello everyone,
Here is my story and I hope someone out there can help me. A very nice man called me today and asked if I could finish his wife's quilt. She died 3 years ago and when he was going through a closet he found this quilt that his wife had started. Their daughter is getting married in a month or so and he would love to give it to her as a wedding gift. Here's the problem, the blocks are 12 inch blocks that she had already hand quilted around them and so there is batting and backing to each block. Now what??? How do I put these together? Can I add sashing? The quilting and piecing is very nice and she has done a great job... but I don't know how to put it together with the back already attached. Please help me make this dream come true. Rose
I have added a picture and you can see on the left her hand stitching in red and you can see the batting and backing to each block.

There is a great QAYG tutorial on the board:

There are lots of instructions if you google it, and I think I've seen a few YouTube videos also.
I'll look around a little more..........
Happy quilting! It's a great project to take on.

it is a pretty easy technique once you see it and figure it out, check the tutorials or check out the cotton theory technique. if you check it out and still have questions or any problems just ask we will be able to help and you can pm me too if you need more help. I am sewing all weekend (YEA! I'M SO HAPPY) so if you just don't get it from the info you find let me know and i will try to do a tutorial, but i think there are already a couple. It is not difficult, and they turn out very well, it will make a beautiful wedding gift for her daughter.... and a little reassurance...the hard part is done the rest will go together fairly quickly. :)

Thank you all. Now I totally get it. :) I do not know the method I will pick yet. I will run it past Steven as to how big he wanted this to be for his daughter. Thank you all again, I don't know what I would do with out you all.
