I was embroidering a turkey on a t-shirt last night when it began to act up. The turkey looked like it was molting! The threads were breaking and all looked awful. I even changed the needle. I put it all away and before I started today, I took apart the machine and gave it a thorough cleaning. Like my sister said, just one speck of dust can through the whole thing off. Today it made a nice turkey. :) And, I didn't kill the machine.

So frustrating. Start anew tomorrow. Rethread everything, do a little cleaning, needle changing and hold your tongue right. We'll be right here with you when you conquer!

My Mom always said,"sew on Friday, pick out on Monday." And you know what ? It sure came true for me many times, including what I sewed yesterday! Always knew I should listen to Mom!!LOL

Walk away, have a coke or coffee, watch a movie and then go back. I do great and when I hit a snag, sometimes it just gets my goat and i have to walk away too. Grrrrrrrrrrr.

Sometimes I'll lay in bed at night after an episode like that and I'll think of all the thing it might be. The next morning I go in and check ALL of those things and usually come up with a solution. Frustration requires a "rest" period. BTW, don't know what kind of thread you are using, but I've tried some of the cheaper threads and found I have all kinds of problems with skipping and breaking. I think long arms are very picky! Mine likes King Tut on the top and Bottom Line in the bobbin. If you are using a cheap thread for your charity quilts, you might try changing and see if the breaking stops.
